the space.

The Workshop is located in the old "hot dog" building, next to the Malemute Saloon in downtown Ester.

  • The room measures about 23.5' x 15' (see below for photos and a schematic with more specific dimensions).

  • The space has electricity, bright lighting and a small storage room.

  • There is no water or heat in the building. If your dates fall on chilly days, you may want to consider bringing a small electric space heater.

  • Open flames are not permitted. A small fire extinguisher will be available in case of emergencies.

  • Bathrooms are only available at the Malemute Saloon and Flossie and May’s Coffee Shop, during their open hours. No bathroom will be available on Saturdays between 2:00-5:30pm.

  • There is currently no Wi-Fi available. Artists will need to rely on their personal cell signal for internet/taking credit card payments, however, cell service can be spotty inside the building. Stepping out the back door or into the parking lot to run credit card transactions has worked for most people, so far!

  • Artists are expected to provide their own displays, however, a limited number of shelf brackets, shelfs, tables and chairs are usually available. Artists are welcome to transform the space however they'd like, including but not limited to bringing in their own displays/furniture, hanging things on the walls, utilizing the outdoor space, etc. The space will just need to be returned to it's original condition at the end of the pop-up.

  • Minor flooding has occurred in the past during periods of prolonged, heavy rain. We will try to keep an eye on the weather and help mitigate water entering the building, however, artists should keep this in mind when it comes to displays, product placement, etc (especially overnight) if there is a lot of rain in the forecast that weekend.

  • Artists should lock the building each night and take any valuables with them that they don’t feel comfortable leaving unattended overnight. There are no curtains on the doors/windows but artists are welcome to put up their own sheets/window coverings for added security, if they would like to.

  • The Workshop is not responsible for any loss, theft or damage.
